Final Design:

Process: The idea at first was to make a collage out of pictures that I took. I printed pictures out and tried to work analogue with them. I did not get te result I wanted out of them and quickly gave up on that idea and decided to focus on illustrations instead. I started making illustrations that I associated with Groningen. While making the spreads and placing the illustrations I started to figure out more what the spreads needed. I had a lot of smaller illustrations, to make the spreads more of a whole and consistent with each other I started to make bigger illustrations that would cover sometimes the whole spread, which made everything more connected. In the end I had a lot of fun experimenting with placement, color and size. I am happy I could still add this element of working analogue on the illustrations.

Proposal choice: I decided to go with proposal 1 because I feel like there are more opportunities to experiment with the style. I also did not finish the proposal completely because I felt a bit stuck with it. I want to try and figure out how to make it work.
Proposal 2:

Proposal 1 (Unfinished):

Proposal 2: hypermodern, controlled, bold, neon colours, experimental.
Proposal 1: collage-style, expressive, street style, bright colours, bold.
Target audience: Creative young adults between 18 to 30 years old in Groningen and outside who want to know more about art and culture in Groningen.
Goal: To show how vibrant Groningen is and that it is actually an underrated cultural hotspot; you don’t always have to go to Amsterdam or Rotterdam as a creative.
