Website Research.
I began by mapping out the website until I find an area that sparked my interest. A lot of the articles and webpages were interconnected and led to the same few places.
The Articles section of the website sparked my interest as it was a well organized summary page that linked to articles that summarized the basics of Groningen. I wanted to use this information in my redesign.
Another important part is the title page with the introduction text.
These “checklists for expats” would act as an interesting break from the main text. I also think this is very helpful information. I will be ignoring the Podcast links and links to external websites.
I began testing out an order of information for the formal proposal. For each magazine page I pasted in a corresponding webpage. The topics would follow a logical/chronological order and vary from serious to more entertaining.
For the style I was inspired by these encyclopedias such as the world book. Two columns of simple text with a subheading. The text is sometimes interrupted with an image at the top of the page. I wanted to experiment with this layout.
I approached designing layout first – the images are added later. First, I created the general layout and represented the images with a brown rectangle.
