For this assignment, we were tasked with placing the lyrics of GRID by Public Enemy into a grid inspired by a structure in our room. I chose to explore three variations, each based on different elements of my space: my windows and drawers.
By translating the song’s text into these predefined structures, I aimed to experiment with how spatial divisions influence the way we read and interpret lyrics. Each layout creates a unique rhythm, echoing both the song’s message and the physical characteristics of my surroundings.
In this post, I’ll walk you through my process and the results of each variation.
